    how polished does a part have to be before plating?mirror finish? can i leave it at 400,600,800?

    i want to get the best finish i can but dont want to have to mirror polish if i dont have to.

    The plating will NOT magically create a "mirror finish".. YOU, the plater, have to create the mirror finish if that's how you want the finished plate to look.. Same as painting.. If there are scratches in the substrate, there WILL be scratches in the final finish coat! If you want a "dull plate" (often used with Zinc Plating), then you will want a dull finish on the part to be plated! Just Remember, when it comes to plating, as in computers... "Garbage In, Garbage Out"!!
