  • First plate with Copy Chrome kit! Help

    Hi guys,

Just set-up my Copy Chrome kit following all the instructions.
The part was copper plated first (originally plastic with conductive paint). Polished and then chromed for about 1.5 hours at 1A.
The following was the result. Any tips or comments to help will be appreciated.

What is the surface area of the part ?
What steps did you take to prep the piece ?

      Hi Jason,
Surface area of the part was just over 200cm^2 which in following the guide I set the CC to 1A. To prepare the piece, (as it was originally plastic) I painted it in a conductive paint, copper plated it, sanded and polished and then proceeded to plate with copy chrome.

plating time should have been 15-30 minutes.

        1. Strain though coffee filter with 1/2 of ‘activated charcoal’ in bottom. Add more Brightener. Add 1-3 teaspoon of HYDROGEN PEROXIDE per 2 gals of solution to reduce pitting.

        2. Alter agitation, or use manual agitation of the part.
