  • Preparing previously chrome plated parts for the Copy Chrome process

    Hello,
I am considering purchasing the Copy Chrome kit to re-chrome some pieces on my 1967 Triumph TR4A that are already chrome plated. I already have a zinc plating kit and have had great results with that kit, so I have some experience electroplating.
The parts I want to re-chrome fairly small things like tail light housings, side marker housings (both pot metal) , door handles, etc. Some of the parts have small rust bubbles on them and I understand that I will have to remove the rust and smooth them out with Muggy Weld. So, my question is.. Do I need to completely remove all the plating from the part before I start with the base copper plating? If I do, what is the recommendation for removing whatever I have to remove?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dave in Cincinnati
