  • Copy Chrome - Food Safe and Temperature limits?

    Hello,

I'm refurbishing an older espresso machine and I'm looking into buying the Copy Chrome Plug 'N Plate kit for some small plating jobs on the machine. Basically, I'm thinking of using the Copy Chrome to re-plate the Steam Wand and a few of the marred chrome fittings that are on the front of the machine. The wand itself is copper with the end being brass and the fittings are brass.

    Picture of the wand here:

Close-up of the related fitting (worst of the set I would try to repair):

My plan would be to: remove the remaining chrome on the items, sand them smooth and then prep for plating.

    A couple of questions:

    1. Is Copy Chrome "Food Safe" or at least as food safe as regular chrome plating?
    2. How does Copy Chrome hold up to temperatures up to about 230 degrees?

    Thank you,

    Jim Seaman
