  • Prepartaion for flash copper on pot metal

I have a pitted chrome automotive part that needs replating. My question is do I have to remove all the previous plating or can I flash copper over patches of nickle, copper, chrome, and pot metal. The part has been sanded smooth and sandblasted so far. I figure once I get the first plate on I can triple plate after that.
    Thanks!

You need to strip any chrome from the part. Flash Copper will plate directly over the rest. Probably best to buff it off, as using acid strippers with Pot Metal will damage the part.
