  • Burning through

I'm having trouble with polishing nickel or copper .I tend to burn through I'm using a commercial buffer with white compound with a spiral sewn wheel. For the most part I usually buff to a high shine but around the edges and around tight areas I burn through.I plate copper for about 30 minutes and nickel for 20.should I plate those items longer to get a thicker base? or am I buffing wrong?

before you plate try to round the edge a little bit so that the plating stays on corners. When it's sharp the plating will not stay on the intersection.
