  • Polishing Aluminum Alloy Wheels? Update After & Before

I'm a Newbie, to the Caswell site. Very well done informative site. I can't leave.

I have some 17" American Eagle 077 polished wheels. They have a milky gray haze from I presume going thru the car wash.

I want to bring the lustre and shine back to them. What kit should I purchase to do this? There are two kits I noticed. One involves sanding and stripping and the VHT compound. The other just involves polishing with the Brown & Black bricks Sisal and White polish.

I just want some hints and tricks from the experienced polishers on this forum.

    Thanks in Advance Kevin

You might be able to get away with a loose cotton wheel and some white compound.. A little more aggressive approach would be a sewn wheel and some brown followed by the loose/white combo.

Are they currently clear coated or anodized? If so, you'll need to strip 'em before buffing.

Check out the online buffing manual for tips on procedures...

    Good luck!!

            hptech1,

Try using a "clay bar" before you go to any mechanical means on polishing. Then use a good Mag wheel polish.
