  • SCRATCHES

I have been able to get a almost perfect shine but can still see scratches.
theses are not from sanding but from the wheel. they are very fine scratches. is it possible that i have contaminated my wheels with my raking with the sam rake. my final process is white and loose sewn cotton. i have even used a flannel wheel and still get scratches.

i got a rake for each wheel ... and when that wheel in not being use it is stored in a code zip loock bag... so it does not pick up any of the other compound's .. i clean my wheels out about every 45 minutes some times sooner than that so yes you will pick up other junk from the same rake ...

If you've contaminated a wheel is there anything that will 'fix' them or is a toss and buy a new wheel scenario?

they are cheap .. so you can replace them or do what i do rake them to you get a nice little bird nest on the floor ... i rake them down every job so that they come out looking fluffy gray .. i will use them til the they are about 3" then i will just use them for greaseless... or the kid's can use them for hockey pluck's

Think I'll try the raking on the loose cotton but the spiral I'll just start using the emery on and buy another spiral for the tripoli. I didn't think about this, what a bonehead I am I took an old license plate and made jagged cutouts with a dremel tool. Guess I'll make a few more cutouts.

Hit up your local home improvement or hardware sore and buy the cheapest Recip-saw (Sawz-All) blades you can find. They make great rakes. Just tape up a couple inches of each end to use as handles and go to town.

1 rake for each compound. You don't wanna cross contaminate your wheels..
