  • sanding aluminum to polish

I am trying to sand my wheels to get them as smooth as glass and i went through all the grits and when i started wet sanding with 1500 grit it still scratches the metal. I tried the 1500 both wet and dry with no luck, and still cant get a smooth finish. Is there some trick to getting it perfectly smooth?

Do you have any buffing wheels and black/white compounds to use? Sanding alone won't achieve the "mirror" look that you see on all polished metals. If you've sanded all the way up to 1500 grit then you're more than ready to start in with the buffing wheels and compounds. As soon as you buff with the black emery compound, the scratches will disappear.
"Some people are like sandpaper: they may delight in the misery they inflict by rubbing up against you, but in the end you will come out smooth and polished while they'll just be ugly, wrinkled, and used up." - Beyonce Knowles
