    This has been asked before by someone else, but went without comment, possibly because no one here knows the answer:

    Anybody know the grit equivalnent of the various compounds?

    that there is one for lance @ caswell
    he is my go to person when i need to know some thing
    the emery is coarse
    then the brown is med
    then white fine
    red is ultra fine
    ect.........

      Thanks, I'll try him.

      I was aware of the progression of compounds. It would be nice to know what grit the emery is at least so if one is using sandpaper you don't go past emery in the grit sizes before you switch to it. Make sense?

        Here is the response from Caswell:

        "It really doesn't work quite like that. Although there are different
        abrasives in the compounds, because of the speed of the wheels they cut
        differently than grit papers etc.
