  • carbon steel sword

I\'m looking for recommendations for clearing rust off a carbon steel sword (chinese dao) that used daily in practice.

Sweat on the blade form regular handling is starting a rust buildup.

I started cleaning off the rust with fine emery cloth (600) + WD40, but it\'s not effective.

What to use for cleanup ?

What to use and how often for protection ?

    Re: carbon steel sword

Is there any fine detail in this sword that may be lost if polished?

If not, a Spiral Sewn wheel and white buffing compound should make quick work of re-polishing.

I haven\'t tried this on carbon steel, but Coca-Cola does a pretty good job if you just want to dissolve the rust.
