Buffing scratches around welds

How do I get rid of 'em? I've tried various sizes and thicknesses of spiral and loose cotton with emery and it ain't workin'. The smallest wheel I used was a 6", do I need to go smaller? Dremel tool? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Later on.

don't laugh at this one .. 0000 steel wool to smooth it out them get a bob and run black then hit it with black on a sprial.

I have found steel wool to be a usefull thing.

I was sanding on some parts a while back and I stumbled across a box of steel wool with detergent already mixed in and was surprised with the results. I don't remember what brand and I know the grit wasn't anywhere on there cause I looked, but it was pretty fine. I think my wife picked it up at a $1 Store because it was in a generic looking box. I guess I'll be getting some more. One question on the bobs. Should I use a firm, or softer felt, or does it matter? Thanks for the reply. Later on.

i am sure they all come the same .. caswell got good facer bufs and felt bobs. i have used them with great out come...

the steel wool i use i got a little bag of it . it did not cost much either

I know you can get the bobs in a softer but they tear up to quick ..

I have a few bobs and facer buffs, I'll give it a shot. Loose cotton and emery works pretty good. I found the steel wool/soap pads at the g-store, 15 of 'em were a whole 96 cents. Later on.

the felt that is sold commercially is available in different firmnesses. as for the grade caswell has i do not know. i would guess firm. that is what i had from another line of hobby i do and with greaseless it works wonders.
by the way easleysp how is the monster going? i have my harley almost finished, cant wait to ride again.

dont feel bad chuck my bike got tore down just for jug and head gaskets and turned into a full repaint it came apart in oct 04. i am just now getting all the pieces back from paint. i let the local college paint it for me to give the students some experience in flames and marble work. also the fact that the only cost incurred by me was for the paint. . i have about $300.00 in a paint job that would cost $2500.00-$3000.00 at a shop. when i get it back together i will post pics since i did the polish work with caswell products. i will also be powdering the wheels soon so i dont feel i am using the forum unjustly.

I haven't done the swing arm mod yet because I'm not sure if the stock wheel is wide enough. I'm getting conflicting stories from people. If that's the case then the swing arm mod will be waiting until the winter. I got a new seat ordered for it last night so it will be here some time this week. Next will be new carb's and maybe high compression pistons. I'll post some pictures when I install the swing arm. I've even thought about tearing it down and powder coating the frame again this winter, dunno yet. There's a new "monster" due to arrive in September that will determine what I'll be doing for a while. Later on.

did your idea to show off your work on test and tune days go well? have you had any luck finding polish work? maybe take a road trip to austin when they have car / bike shows and walk around with flyers. best of luck bro i hope it booms for you.

I am a long way's of to getting my projects done ... I got 3 car's my bike and a house all under way the new house is taking the lead on all this ..

The best way to get some polishing work is to do a few ( yes a few ) for pennies and let the work speak for itself. Or do what i did plaster decals every where .. To bad i did a name change for the company..
