  • Expander Sanding Wheels.

I've got a pretty good sized polishing project to do and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Expander Sanding Wheels?

Do they gouge if used properly?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

from all i have read here they work good and only gouge if you get to aggressive with the pressure. the problem i have is my machines both spin at 3600 rpm so i have not been able to try one yet. i think the recommended max is around 2400. i also heard that they are best on flat work without a lot of contours. hope this helps
    best of luck bro

      Thanks Phil,

I have four bumper guards from a 1952 S.I.A.T.A. to polish and they are in relatively bad shape. The sides are pretty flat so I think i'll give it a go. The only problem I can see is that the leading edges are deeply gouged, I may have to find a way to fill them so I don't change the profile to much.
