Re: Calling Polishing Gurus. Do these JDM Drag Wheels Look Polishable?

of course they can be polished. the questions you have to ask are, are the wheels worth the shipping if out of state, what finish level do you hope to get on them, do you have the desire and experience to do it yourself or will you hire it out, if hired out factor the polish cost and the price including shipping and is it still worth it.
now for answers, as i said they can be polished. do you want a mirror shine or just reproduce the look they have now(cast inside and polished bead area). if you are looking for mirror, and will be doing them yourself, you will need to do a good bit of reading on this forum for suggestions to the questions that will arise. also plan on 3-4 hours each wheel to smooth the cast spoke area up and then buff the whole thing. if you are experienced i do not mean to insult your abilities just generalizing. best of luck bro.
when in doubt polish it out/ why replace it when you can refinish it

These guys are right anything can be polished !!
My suggestion would be to find someone in your area that has a Soda Blasting set up .
Soda blasting will remove any clear paint etc. And leave you with a finish you can easily
work with and it is pretty inexpensive if you don?t have some one in your area drop me a line and ill hook you up with a Co.

HEY Jimcarry can you explain what soda blasting set up is and how coarse are the scratches after you blast the part? Does the soda blasting only work on aluminum are can it be used on other metals like pot metal. If it is less aggressive on pot metal I would realy need to look into getting the set up. My set up now is a very fine and fast cut grit, but is still a little to aggressive.

got to this link it will explain it . I have a friend that strips everything from aluminum wheels to whole cars with this typ of blasting the best thing is that it is a food approved product. This link will take you to the list of tools need for big scale http://forum.caswellplating.com/show...3&page=2&pp=10 but small blasters are available For a very reasonable price if you allready have a sand blaster im sure its just some simple change outs to make it work
