  • Ripples in Stainless steel

Im straightening stainless steel, and used a DA sander to get the scratches out caused by the file i used, and when i buffed it out, it had little ripples in it (not in the part i straightened, but the part of the piece next to it got scratches in). How do you get those out?

If the DA is all you have, you'll have to keep going with that if you want to get it perfectly flat. If it's for yourself, you'll have to decide how much effort you want to expend for the desired result. Or you could try greaseless compounds but they won't flatten it evenly like the DA will.

      85dodge,

Along with what mpierich stated if you have access to belt sander that would work really nice. You may be able to rent one at Home Depot or such, if you don't have one.
