  • Min Vibrator Size for polishing ceramic coated headers

Could anyone who has experience polishing all sorts of auto headers, please post what they feel is the min dimensions required for a tub that would effectively hold a single set of headers and the appropriate quantity of media?

There has GOT to be someone on here that has a vibrator that can handle one set of headers....

Probably not what you want to hear but I've seen some large vibratory tumblers and non of them were large enough for a header. It would probably have to be a custom setup.

Actually...thats what I want to hear from people. Chances are they are custom setups and I want to know how big they built it so I can make my custom setup. The media is expensive so I dont want to go TOO big but just teh size the works best.

What was wrong with my idea of the 55 gal. drum? It would be easy to make and very cheap.

Abolutely nothing....I just want to make sure that headers will fit in it before I go digging for one. Do you know for abolute certain that a set of headers will fit in that size of barrel?

Yea, one header at a time but not both unless you want them hitting each other. What is the measurements of the header?

Re: Min Vibrator Size for polishing ceramic coated headers

Thats the thing...I dont have a set of headers laying around. I have only ever had small block equal lengths but I wanted to make sure that one set of big block long tube headers would fit. That should cover 95% of all possible headers.

If anyone has a set of the above could they measure the size of box that they would use to ship them so that I can get the absolute min dimensions.

Thanks for hanging in there Fly....we will get er done!!!

All I have is small block but a thought came. Do you have a speed shop in your area? If so I'd bet they let you get dimensions of a set. If you can't I'll see what I can do on my next trip to Austin.

i just cured a set of long tube headers and they will surely fit in a 55 gallon drum if you turn it on its side and use it horizontally
when in doubt polish it out/ why replace it when you can refinish it

I found a set of 302 ford headers and found a plastic barrel. If I put the header it is TIGHT and wont move...pretty much "wedged". Are the bigger plastic drums out there>??
