  • How do you polish the tiny details ?

I'm plating a Harley Davidson cover. I've got it on copper, about to do a final buffing before Nickel plating. The question is how do I polish up the itty bitty details in the Harley emblem? You know all those places a buffer or Dremel can't go ! Only thing I can think of is a toothbrush and some kind of compound. Any suggestions ?

The dremal tools have those loose cotton wheels for those types of areas, try that with some brown compound, it will work but be carfull not to buff through the copper.

For the really small tight areas I use a flex shaft tool and jewelry wheels and tips

I can't imagine a space a Dremel can't get into unless there's something in the way. They make tiny felt bobs, cylindrical in shape that go onto a small shaft with a screw tip (looks like a tiny wood screw). You can run it on a piece of sandpaper to shape it to get into corners - just watch, as you use it and it gets smaller the screw tip will protrude and scar your work if you're not careful. Don't ask me how I know....

Hmmm all good ideas. Thanks guys. I'll have to look at jewelry equipment, I hadn't thought of that.

Dremel has a flame shape mini felt bob.. seems to me would work great in a tight spot like that..
