greaseless compounds

How do I loosen up old hardened greaseless compounds. they aren't solid just really hard. thanks in advance

Put it in a ziplock bag or similar. Add a spoonful or two of water and leave it overnight. The compound is water based, so it will absorb some water and soften it up.
