Dried up compound

    Dried up compound

    Hello all

    I have some greaseless compound I was using . But it now has dried hard in the bag ?? Is it useless now?
    How are you suppose too store this stuff once its open ?

    I have a spare refrigerator at my disposal, otherwise this method would probably not go over well with certain "someone's", but I stand the greaseless bars on end with the exposed end in a small shallow bowl of water and just store them in the fridge. Just be sure to dab the exposed end off with a towel before you take a buff to it, because greaseless likes to absorb water and if left wet, a spinning buff will fling slurry ten feet across the room in a New York second.

      When I get a new tube of greaseless, I rubber-band a baggie over the end. When it's down to where it'll fit into a Pringle's can, I wad up a wet paper towel, put it in the can and put the tube in, open end down. Put the lid on the can.

      You might be able to get some use out of that dry tube by soaking the end in water - try it for a half hour at first. You still might have to really jam it on a running wheel to get any out of it, but might be worth a try.

          I use a 1 gallon zip lock bag with a wet paper towel over the exposed end. Works great!

            Well thanks for the help guys. I put it in a plastic bag with a bit of water and, it softened up again. Tried it yesterday and it works fine. Thanks again.

              That's great! BTW, my wife does let me use the crisper in the fridge for spares, but I wrap them up real good...
