  • Removing Wax Buildup

When I've finished polishing a piece, there is some wax buildup on sections of the piece, usually stuck in corners or odd sections of the piece, and I haven't found a simple method of removing it. I've tried 409 and Windex, but neither give me the result I'm looking for. Brake cleaner seems to work, but it leaves a foggy film. Is there some simple household item that will work well for this?

Dish soap and a soft bristle tooth brush. Or try acetone.

Or buff the part with calcium carbonate.

I use acetone and it works great at removing residual compound wax. Be careful with the type of rag you use so that you are not scratching the metal when you are cleaning it.
