  • Another newbie question

I did read the buffing instruction book but could not really find my answer, so hopefully some of you can help. When I am buffing, (doesn't seem to matter which wheel or compound) I see that it's shining up, but it looks like the compound is sticking to the work piece. Is that supposed to happen? If I go back over it, then the "smudge" gets on the just polished part. I cleaned the piece with acetone afterwards, but then the piece just looks dirty. Am I using too much compound? Pressing too hard? Wheel not clean enough? Thanks!

This is likely caused by using too much compound. Try buffing the part dry (without any compound) to remove the excess.
