aluminium welds

i'm a fabricator
- manifolds
- intercoolers
- inlet plenums
- etc

now because i TIG weld these components, you can still see the join of the two sections quite clearly
are you able to grind these down, polish up and make it look like it is one complete sheet?

any ideas?

You will be able to get it very close, but if the grains are in any way different, you will be able to tell them apart. (barely) The weld could also look slightly different than the joined parts. If the items are cast, you may be able to manipulate the metal grain and get it completely uniform. Only practice will determine if this is possible.
