  • Nickel oxidization

    Good morning-
    First post on the forum.
I have a project where we need to apply what we think is a light to medium gray oxide on a dash panel insert on an early Packard. The panel is brass, with a light chrome plated main surface. It was originally then masked and etched to create a nice pattern around the gauges. This lowered, etched surface was then nickeled and oxidized to give a gray color, which is bordered by the chrome.
I need some help finding what compound would do a nice even job of oxidizing a nickel surface to create the gray color.

not quite sure what you mean by nickel oxidation giving a colour a nice grey nickel colour can be achieved by giving your item 3 to 5 microns in a medium phosphorus electroless nickel vat
