  • Is there a way to remove laser etching and maintain the finish?

    Hi everyone,

New here, I'm working on a kitchen island for our home and one of the things I am putting into it is a pop up electrical outlet. I purchased one off of ebay but what they neglected to mention is that their company logo was etched across the top of it. It is actually quite good quality so I was hoping to keep it but really dont want to have this chinese logo on there as it will be painly visible .

I've attached a photo of the top plate where the etching is, as you can see it's a brushed stainless finish. I can't tell if the etching is cut into the metal or sits on top of the metal you really can't feel it when you run your fingers over it and I tried doing the pencil transfer test and nothing comes up. I thought it might be ink but I tried using some acetone but it didn't seem to work.

Is there any way I can get rid of that etching and still maintain the brushed stainless finish so it matches the rest of it?

Thank you kindly for any advice you can offer.
