  • Remove existing plate with blasting

    Hi all.

I was wondering if old plate, nickel and chrome, could be removed by sand/glass blasting. I am guessing if blasting can engrave, then it should be able to remove old plate and have a satin smooth finish in the end.

    Your thoughts ?

    Regards,

yes sand and glass will remove plate. Sand will be faster, but glass will leave a smoother surface and is better for thin or delicate work.

Thank you for the reply and the info. If anyone has any more input regarding procedures, then by all means I would be interested in them. I am taking safety precautions with blasting above and beyond of "average" (water curtain, full face mask, cyclone dust remover, etc), especially after all the safety info I gathered from here and others finising forums.

      Thanks again.
