  • prep brushed aluminum for clear coat?

i\'ve got a bare aluminum bike frame that i\'ve
brushed with scotchbrite pads. i love the look,
but if i touch the frame i get black residue.
can i just spray it with clear coat or do i
have to somehow \'clean\' the frame before painting? and i so, how?!

    Many thanks!!

Yes, you can clear coat it. See http://www.caswellplating.com/vhtclear.htm

You\'ll need to de-grease the part first with some lacquer thinner. Just follow the instructions on the can.
