  • Darkening brass faucet questions

I am interested in darkening my brass faucet. It is solid brass and I imagine it has a protective coating.

Can you recommend a removal process for the protective coating?

It indicates that the products be used as a dip, but I am VERY wary of removing this faucet to darken it. Any way to use as brush on/wipe off? Or would this be uneffective?

    Thanks!

Clearcoat remover should remove any protective coating. See http://www.caswellplating.com/aids/clearcoat.htm

The issue is keeping the entire part coated with the solution until you get the desired finish. If there are parts of the faucet that the solution runs off of, you'll end up with a very patchy looking finish.
