  • 17" aluminum wheels

Can 17" wheels be cured with your 2000 watt IR lamp? I would probably mount the wheel from the rear on a turntable facing up, so it could be heated more evenly.

They are too big for my junkyard electric oven.

    Thanks.

I personally don't see why not. IR basically heats what it "sees". So basically...if the lamp and rim are withing close proximity and direct view of one another, it will do the trick. Might I add one suggestion though? Instead of laying the rim on a flat surface and rotating it for it's cure, why not coil some heavy gauge wire around the inside portion (where the tire is going to cover after mount anyways) and hang on a hook from there. This way you won't have any unsightly rough edges and such on your finished product.

I plan to use a fabricated wheel "hub" to grab the wheel in the bolt holes, no other contact.

      Thanks!
