  • Fuel/Heat resistant Vs. Spray Paint

    Hello again,

    Another quick question:

Does powdercoat stand up to "fuel drips" better than spray-on engine enamel?

Obviously in a perfect world our carburetors would not leak at all, but if (when) they do, will the fuel instantly dissolve the coating like spray on paint?

    Thanks,

Powder is much more chemical resistant then "spray paint". But as in everything the key word is resistant. Just for some info, there are charts around, I forget where now, but they have a certain powder formulation (epoxy, polyester, TGIC, etc..) that show different times it takes to breakdown the coating, fuel was one of them and it took a while. Maybe search for something like "powder coating chemical resistance charts", you may find something.
