what is the melting point of cured powder coating.

  • #2
Polyesters should not exceed a continuous temp. of 180?F or an intermittent range of 180?-220?F

Epoxies should not exceed a continuous 240?F or an intermittent range of 240?-275?F

Silicone-based can handle a continuous temp of, up to 1000?F

cured powder coating doesn't melt.... it's already melted. It just degrades under heats past the guidelines that drfjr posted. Higher temps mean quicker times that it degrades. Some may see no change until it's too late and others may see yellowing or charring of the heavier pigmented powders depending on what's going on.

SO should you use Epoxies for things like Valve covers and water outlets or will Poly's work?
