I had the same question. I was told that it would work in an oven but not for radiant heating. The only problem is that even the high heat silicone sealers give off fumes when heated in an oven, that might have an effect on the color. 3M makes several high heat masking liquids. Getting your hands on them is tricky because they're industrial grade and toxic. I would get all the different size tapes and a really good exacto knife set and practice, practice, practice.

Aluminum foil works well for masking if you don't need a sharp edge.....

What about using Tape for the edges and foil for a filler like if you need a large space not coats like say the Pad contact space on a Brake Rotor? Use the tape for the edge and to hold the foil down.

That is what i do!! it works very well like that and you dont use as much tape. Which is a +.
