That is sweet. Some questions though... Is it going into the mower in the background?...sorry I couldn't resist. What is the bottle made of? what were the curing parameters? How much pressure does it hold? I've never coated a cylinder, but was told that aluminum cylinders shouldn't be cured at high temps for long periods of time. Actually I was told to cure them using IR heaters to avoid damaging the integrity of the aluminum. I was under the impression that the alloy they were made from was pretty hearty but found out later that most manufacturers recommend no higher than 285f for no longer than 20 mins. Is my info incorrect?

I have coated some CO2 cylinders. They are supposed to be re-hydro tested after coating, but the pressure in those is about 900 psi. How much pressure is in a nitrous bottle?

I run between 900-1200PSI in my nitrous bottles.

I personally for my safety never bake a bottle.

Its not for the Mower at least not yet. It is made of aluminum. Using a oven cant be any worse then using an IR heater. The IR would beat down harder and faster in one spot than the oven would do. As far as curing it, I cured it for 15 min at 325. Also they say not to heat the bottles with a torch but how many people have you seen heating them with torches? Guess will see when I get the car back running.

I know this is an old post. I ran across it reading back through the older posts so I may not have to ask questions already posed many times. I am a scuba divemaster that deals with high pressure tanks regularly. The last post bothers me in that the person that will be hurt if the tank integrity has been compromised will be the poor soul filling the tank. As taught when becoming a divemaster, any high pressure tank that is suspect of incurring temps reaching 300 degrees of more through fire or recoating using heat to cure (which is not recommended) must be hydro-tested to insure the integrity of the tank. Again, heat curing high pressure tanks is not recommended and failure is almost always at the time of fill. I feel to risk your body or life is your choice but to risk that of someone who is unaware is not acceptable.
