Has anyone messed with alum that has just been poured, or say a couple weeks old? this stuff is a special blend (?) they told me and its pretttttty dam hard for alum. the problem im having is outgassing no matter what I do, ( read the tips on outgassing) there almost the size of a pin head, and scattered and never in the same damn place no matter how many times I strip it and start over...

    Thanks

blade you will not get the gas out of it .. i pour alum.. and i it is melted down lawnmowers and carbs... and what not .. i get the little pin hole in the casting to ... no matter what i do they come back... it may be the flux i use to ... but each part is washed 5 times before it go's in the melting pot and i skim the crude off till i get a clean pot .... i will do some looking in to it and keep you posted

I'm having a tough time with MR Gasket Carb adapters. I had to do a 2nd coat on one and it outgassed bad, I mean hell, they were not there the 1st coat. The other one I even preheated and it still outgassed on me. Oh well, live and learn, off to ebay those 2 go

For cast aluminum I try to get customers to go with a textured powder, it hides most everything. Also try outgassing your part for a rediculous amount of time, you can't go to long. Most people stop around 30 min or less.
