  • Chrome / Candy

I know this has probably been repeatedly covered, but I could use a little clarification. I want to use chrome poly as a base, then top with candy red. What is the exact cure schedule for each and is there anything that needs to be done to the part in between coats? Thanks in advance

Cure the chrome for half of the full cure time, let part cool down then spray candy color. Cure at full temp and time. Done

It didn't work...for whatever reason, the chrome came out great, it cooled, then when I went to apply to candy, it wouldn't stick to the chrome. Help?

If you are using a hobby style gun, try spraying the second coat when the part is warm. this should make the second coat hold. just watch how much you spray, you can over coat the part by doing it this way.

Sounds like you didnt have good ground to me. I have had to try several different pieces to get use to shooting the translucents myself. They seem do seem to alittle more difficult to get the right amount applied, so you dont get any bleed through of the chrome or to much build on the corners to where you can see a color difference. Just practice is all i can say.

I have a piece that I have shot 3 times and still need to shoot it again (don't Ask ). But I have never had any problem with powder sticking on the 2nd or 3rd coat.

For those of you who are having trouble getting the candy/translucent colors to stick switch from chrome to silver. it's a little darker (not much) but coats much easier.

will the translucent look as good as the crome base when you use the silver ?

When over chrome they kinda look anodized. When on silver they look like candy paint. They get a little deeper and a little darker.
