  • High Temp Powder??

    Hey All:
What are you all using for High temp powders, I plan to powder some headers & exh manifolds. Will they stay looking good after heating & cooling while used on an engine? Also if I Powder a intake manifold, does the intake manifold get hot enough to need high temp powder?
    Thanks in advance!
    Trsick!

For intakes we been doing a lot of candy trans. colors over the chrome base and have had no complients. As for the headers, i've hadn't yet to
try the hi temp powders, so cant say. We been using the cerm. coat for headers and the results are awesome.

          Re: High temp finish

How is the cerm coating applied? I have a parts cleaner, media blaster, Powder gun & a oven. What else would I need to do ceramic coating?

i used that chromex ... it is sweet and cheape... i would say if you want a nice chrome look use it .... a compressor and a detail spray gun and don't use glass bead it dose not stick i found that out the hard way ...

here is what i do :

              1. clean and degrease
              2. i blast it with sand ( it is a healt risk but it makes it bond good)
              3. wipe down with thinner
              4. spray at 32 psi ( must use filters to tram any water or oil caswell stocks them)
              5. i bake it at 500 f for 1 hour
              6. polish with 0000 super fine steel wool
              7. glass bead at 25 psi and it looks better than chrome plate

I polish ceramic with 0000 steel wool and sisal wheel with white compound
customandsound -what #of glassbead do you use to blast it after 0000
                polish
cuz I have tried some diferent sizes and they still gave me a matte look
so I ended up ussing a polisher but blasting it will be alot easier and faster

Have yall got any pictures of what yall did? I am interested in trying it, just alittle scared to spend that much money and not be satisfied or the customer not be happy with it.

and how long does the chrome powder lasts on headers
I have always use ceramic coating , I've never tried powder on headers
or do you mean you use ceramic and the powder over it ?
