  • A few coating questions

Hi, I have a few coating questions.

    1. What powder would be best for valve covers, intake manifold, and other engine parts that do not get too hot.

    2. Where can I buy the powder coating clear coat?

    3. Would Cerakote Coatings suffice for use with exhaust manifold, turbo exhaust, heat shielding, etc?

    4. Can I use the Caswell powder coating gun to shoot Cerakote Coatings?

    5. If I cannot use that gun, is there an cost effective alternative?

    Thank you

Any of the Tech line coatings will work for Exhaust parts.

      I have a few more

      1. How far does 1 pound of the powder go?

      2. How far does 1 quart of Cerakote Chromex go?

      3. Can I have a link to the clear coat, because I cannot find it.

      Thank you

In answer to number 4, I thought that the ceramic chrome had to be sprayed on as a liquid with an HVLP spray gun? Perhaps I'm mistaken?

1 hvlp guns run from $20 to $500 you can get nice deals on ebay

                2 30-50 sq-ft

3 I'll say you'll get around 15 small 4cl headers but that depends on what gun you have and how much you apply , gravity feed guns are better and the smaller the gun the better for getting in to tight areas .
