I have been using paint stripper and then bead blast. So of the strippers work better than others. I bought a can at Lowes that came with a squirt bottle and believe it was called ez strip for around $20.00 a gallon and worked pretty good.

I bake off my hooks and hangers in a self cleaning oven and for other parts i use carb cleaner from napa..quick working stuff...use rubber gloves...
