Anyone know the temp of a gun barrel?

Can a gun barrel be PC'd? I'm worried about the heat. If regular pc won't hold up, I may use high temp burner black. Does anyone have any pictures of it?

It depends.. on caliber, barrel thickness and how many rounds will be put thru the gun... and ambient air temp.
I have fired my SKS till the barrel is so damn hot i cant touch it.. and my .243 with a match barrel dosent really get too hot to the touch after about 20 rounds.
I'd say use an IR thermometer and fire a few rounds and see what the temp is..
A 400deg cure to me should be plenty...

Well, I'll go out this weekend with the IR thermo and bump fire about 50 rounds through it and post my results (if anyone is interested) The gun I'm going to do first is an AK-47. I've got some high temp burner black coming if needed.

I buffed my AK-47 to a chrome look then powder coated it with a clear and flat black and its just fine. I got a 75 round drum on it and it is fully auto the powder is still ok. I think I should put a pic of it on here in the album soon.
