  • Question for viper56

First i just want to say great job on the your oven and thanks for putting up the step by step on your website. Because of your very informative website i decided to build a oven just like yours except maybe a foot or two longer. I am going to order the elements and temp control today and will hopefully start constuction next week. My problem is that im not a electrical expert and i was wondering if you can help me out with a step by step wiring diagram? If you can help me out i would really appreciate it. Thanks BTW, im powdercoating parts my toy in the pic [/img]

      chicagorich,

Thanks for the compliment. I just flew back from New England on Friday night and I am flying to Philadelphia today for the week. My schedule is pretty hectic now, but I will try to take more detailed photos of the wiring and will post them on my website as soon as I am able to. If you are purchasing the same temp control that I used, there is no additional wiring to do and no need for a contactor as long as you keep the amperage below 30 amps. You can see how I wired the breaker box from my current photos, then you wire just the two hot wires from the load side of the brekaer box to the line terminals on the temp control and then two hot wires from the load terminals on the temp control to the elements as shown in the instructions which come with the temp control.

        thanks for the reply viper

I have a couple more questions, where did you get your plug from? and where is the ideal spot to put the temp probe for the controller? Thanks

          chicagorich,

I got the 4 prong range cord and plug from my local Lowes. The temp probe is located in the top right rear corner and my digital thermomter probe is located in the top left front corner.
