  • Broken cable on Caswell gun

Well, figured out i have some sharp corners in the shop

Whats the best way to repair the coax cable that goes to the gun? Is it sensitive regarding the cable or can i just solder the cable back together?

Just slip a small piece of heat-activated shrinkwrap over each seperate wire and one larger piece to go on the outside before you solder it, then use the small pieces to seperate the wires and the larger one to protect the outer surface afterwards.

Well, tried with shrinkwrap, 2 layers on the innercable, folded back the outer ground, and one more shrinkwrap over that, gun works, but i hear ticking from the repaired area. Any idea on what really works?

If at first you don't succeed...

Sounds like either the soldering didn't hold up, or perhaps you may have a second break somewhere in the cable. Have you tried Ohming it out with a multimeter to see if the resistance changes when the cable is flexed?

No second break, its clearly ticking from the repaired area. Opened it today and the soldering was ok, so there is "leaking" through the shrinkwrap....

Is it possible to change the whole cable somehow?

                replacement parts?

Hmm. The only other idea I might suggest would be to use some auto engine silicone gasket sealer to help seperate and insulate the two wires. But yeah, at this point, it would be nice to just get a replacement part (if it is available, and IF it doesn't cost more than a whole new machine). What would also be nice would be to see if a longer cable could be made available, to make it easier to work around larger, more awkward parts.

no doubt on the longer cable, I would love to have about three more feet to work with.
