Shocks??

Has anyone here done any shocks?.. I have a guy who wants 4 of them done.. but im a bit leary about putting them in the oven at 400deg.

i would not do them since they have rubber seals to keep the oil in. plus when the oil boils it could explode and i am a mechanic and believe me shock oil stinks....

Besides...Most shocks are nitrogen charged. When Nitrogen is heated like all other gasses, it expands and can cause quite and explosion.

Nitrogen does not expand when heated,but you still cant heat the shock regardless because of the seals.ask if this shock can be disassembled as some can,and if so you can coat individual outer pieces.

Nitrogen most definitely DOES expand when heated, in fact EVERYTHING expands when heated (if you find something that does not expand when heated, you will likely win a Nobel Prize in science). I would never put a sealed container of any type in an oven. You could do parts of a shock if you can disassemble it, like the springs or end caps on a motorcycle shock.
