Anyone ever thought of or done this?

The small powder gun has a Fixed Output Voltage of 16KVDC wouldn't it be possible to increase the power and make it a 70 to 100 KVDC like some of the pro guns? Where are the electronic guru's at?

Done it. Works good.I used a power supply from an electrostatic wet paint system I purchased on ebay for $63.00..I can crank up to 150 KV.................Now if I could just get some various nozzles adapted to this gun...........
Make sure you get the high voltage cable that is made for the power supply,because the cable that comes with the cheap gun will bite you with the higher voltages...............Ask me how I know.

You mind posting some pictures and explaining a bit more? I have the powder coating gun . Like as to how you hooked the power supply up to the powder coating system and details

I was just thinking and looking for info on this. It would be nice to up the kv for better transfer after getting the tight spots. I know some will advise against it but hey, better tranfer = less loss, provided it can be safely done.

I believe the tighter the corners the less kv you want...

I've been looking at ways to up the power on mine as well but can't find a good hv source.
I thought about trying an automotive coil, 50-60dc kv output.

Any chance of getting some pictures of the unit? I think all the power supplys I seen were all like up to 100VDC. I've got the gun they are saying their gun averages 20VDC, yet they say the measured output of the high voltage wire (the one running to the cup) is 485VDC. The gun Caswell sells is said to be 16KVDC which would be 1600VDC vs. 20VDC (it don't seem possible that the powder would even stick at 20VDC) So I'm just wondering if the gun can handle that kind of power. Anyone ever compared the guns?
