I am coating a small rail in transparent red with added metalic any recomendations for an undercoat I want a deep look the tubing is cromemolly and mild steel??

Most trans colors need a chrome or alum base color.

Try red for a base coat. I did a custom MC frame, fenders and tank with candy (translucent) metallic (gold flakes) red over a base of red metallic with silver flakes. Looked awesome.

i shot it over white and it looked good .
