  • Newbie just ordered kit!

I’m in!!!! After lurking here for a long time I just purchase my powder coating kit with some Black Magic powder. I’m building a Cobra Replica and this will come in handy. My first question is can I powder coat bolts and still be able to put a socket on them? Most likely not but just thought I would ask.

For you guys building cars, what do you powder to detail your ride? I’m sure you all have some great ideas! Looking for a good silver to do the driveshaft what is a good color?

As soon as I have done my first part, I will be sure to share it with you all!

    Thanks!

welcome to the forum.. And the world of powder coating.

Please take a few minutes of your time and read the following links:

As to building a car .. I either powder coated ceramic coated or polished every part on this years show car... I powder coated the hood, fenders, doors, truck lid and a whole lot more.. I am about to have some airbrushing done then it will be cleared...

Customandsound, thanks for the tips. Did you powder bolt heads or did the thickness of the powder cause problems?

I did and do most of the bolts in a powder called Black Jack, its tuff but regardless when ya go to bolts they always seemed to get a bit scared, unless your verrrrrrrrrrrrry careful..not sure if caswell sells the black jack or not, I use it on handles that go on really spendy "wish i could buy them boats " and coast guard boats. seems like a good time to offer a suggestion to caswell to get this stuff...it's the ultimate hide all powder..I buy it 100 # at a time.........

Who sells it? Sounds like it is just what I'm looking for. Does it come in silver?

              Thanks!

Oooopps. Sorry about that Chuck. I did and I'm on board...Now. I will try to powder some bolts and see how they hold up. Any suggestions on what type of powder?
