  • How big can I powdercoat? Having trouble

I find that when I do wheels they are almost always orange peeling. Most of the time if I dont prebake with a super chrome powder some areas will look and feel rough. I need to pack the powder on when the wheel is 400 degrees and put it back in. Are the starter guns too small to handle a 17" wheel??

Take the tip off and use a psi of 20, spray it around 180f and make sure you coat it thick, the gun is not providing enough voltage to get the powder tp stick in the correct thickness.

Ok I will try that. How much do the caswell compressors push for psi?

I do all my pieces while they are cool.

Many of the auto makers now powder primer their cars.
Kubota tractors have powder coated cabs and fenders.
Altec powder coats bucket truck bodies.

Big is relative to your budget.
Hobby guns will do wheels with no problem you just need to apply a heavier coat.I personaly have coated heavy steel sheets as big as 4ft x 6ft with no issues.I almost always coated cold unless in a hurry.
