I have some anodized alum parts I want to PC. Should the anodizing be stripped off first?

Yes you need to strip it off.

You should strip it off for best results. I have powdered over a freshly anodized part to see how the the part would come out. The part came out great but it is probably better to get rid of the anodize before powdercoating.

BTW, the cleaner "Greased Lightning" works GREAT for stripping anodizing off aluminum...won't etch the aluminum at all.

I have tried this and it works. Take about 40-60 minutes and a little light brushing under running water after you pull the parts out.

Thanks for the info. I have also heard that oven cleaner will also take off anodizing.

Some anodize I have taken off by just sandblasting it, others require chemical stripper. I guess it just depends on the quality of the anodize job. Good luck.
