    Re: Xtreme Chrome...

The single stage chrome powder I buy is holding up pretty damn good since last year which the coated items are exposed to the bay arear of Brooklyn NY. I coated titanuim railings about 40ft long with this stuff and no clear coat, buyer did not want it because of the additional price. But all metallics require a top coat, your correct in saying that to your customers. But I can stand behind this so called single stage powder since I use it all the time now, also I have been running a powder coating business for a few years now, this may have something to do with why its lasting since it was chemically pretreated.

Our Tiger Drylac rep, who has 20+ years in the PC industry, and I talked at length about this, because I wanted to start stocking this "magic" chrome powder, and I was assured that single stage chrome is not 100% truthful because if the parts are exposed to the elements, they will oxidize and fade over time. Clearcoats are absolutely necessary to prevent oxidization.

I guess we could call our chrome powders single stage chrome, then put in the tiny, tiny small print indoor use only, but I prefer to be honest with people about what they're getting.

If anyone has any real experience with one of the chrome powders marketed as single stage, and can show that after 6+ months of outdoor use it still looks shiny, I'd be more than happy to look at the product again.

I have to trust you on that. But, I thought I remember reading it somewhere.

All chrome powders are one step chrome...if, and only if the part is not exposed to the elements.

There is not a chrome powder in existance that doesn't need a clearcoat if it's for outdoor use.

I also want to see what it ends up like after the clear coat.

I also want to try the one step chrome that is out there now.
