Has anyone ever used the black diamond blasting media, I have a friend who is getting me a couple hundred pounds of it in trade for some work, I heard it is dustless. I am going to use it when I powder coat and ceramic coat. Thanks

How long does it last, I am currently using aluminum oxide. I blast at 120 psi. The aluminum oxide is kind of dusty but is better that the garrnet or glass bead that I have used before.

If you sell It I may be interested in a 100 pound bag some where in the near future. thanks

        I buy it for 7.95 per 100.
I get 4 or 5 good blasting out of it. But I also use it like this.
Med turns into Fine and fine turns into extra fine then its trash..
If you have a good re-claimer you will not have a dust issue.. I do not..

jim is right on on this. at the day job we have a cabinet vac. it works great there. here at home i dont have that and the black beauty/diamond works great when new. after a good round of blasting, for me that is about 2 weeks, it starts to break down. when you look at it it will look like sand is mixed with it. then it starts to build a pretty good dust storm in the cabinet. i have been using alum oxide and it is less dusty in my cabinet, but due to air pressure limitations i cant blast as fast. i think part of that is i went from medium black beauty to fine alum oxide.
when in doubt polish it out/ why replace it when you can refinish it

Ya my aluminum oxide was great when new, now after blasting 5 snowmobile pipes for ceramic coating and blasting a bunch of other parts for powder coating it is getting dusty, its starting to leave a dark grey dust on the parts before they come out of the blaster. I stick in a 100 pounds at a time. I think next time I will only use 50 pounds at a time. I am going to save all my old stuff for blasting outside so I dont need to reclame it, just let it go in the wind when blasting.

                  sent you a PM.
What you need is a good vaccum system for your sand blast cabnet, 1 that removes the dust but drops the sand in the bottom of the re-claimer. Caswell sells one for I think 189.00. The unit needs HIGH CFM's to do its job, not sure what the specs are on that unit.. Maybe someone can get them and post them..
With this type of system you can use the sand more and waste less.
