Re: Pcing clear over polished Aluminum
It finally hit me what your parts are. The prep is just to get them as clean as you can. I used thinner or brake wash to final clean. The clear shouldn't yellow on the parts. I have some pics of polished alum. skateboard trucks I did for my son in candies in my album. They don't look dull to me. It won't hide your welds with clears or candies. I agree with you that anodize would be a bit difficult for that size parts. PC should be your ticket on that project.

Pcing clear over polished Aluminum
I've been reading posts for a little while(tons of info to go through).I started making Rod & cooler racks for trucks & boats(don't know how to put pics in post but they are in my gallery so you can see them)Actuall they are my 1st polish jobs too.I want to protect the finish on these,They will see a saltwater enviroment.but due to the size I think anodizing would be to big a venture. Can I shoot clear over polished Al.?What steps to prep them? Will being in UV yellow the clear in time? Will the pieces still look like they are polished & not dull? Will the coating take away from the details of the tig welds?(polished al. & tig welds are beautiful things) I would hate to lose the look of these.......thanksTags: None
