  • need Near Chrome tip

Just coated a set of aluminum wheels with Near Chrome, because the pictures I've seen made it appear close to brushed aluminum, which is the look I wanted.

Instead, they came out very close to chrome (if I had wanted them that way, they would be dull!). WAY too bright.

I haven't shot the clear yet....is there anything I can do to dull them down a bit? Apparently the nature of the clear coat itself does that somewhat anyway. Just wondered if there was anything else I can do here, and keep control over it.

    Longer cure? Hotter cure?

Clear them and that will resolve the issue. Once cleared they will dull ( Chrome shine removed)..

You were right...thanks, Jim. After clearing them, they now look like the pictures. They possibly could have been just a bit duller to suit me, but this will be fine.
